Rising Star wins in Bhaderwah, Country Club in Jammu

BHADERWAH, June 10: To locate the raw talent from far-off areas and to groom them to represent the State at national and international level, Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), under the aegis of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is organising cricket tournament, which got underway here today.
The second season of tournament with the title ‘hunt for the hidden talent’, in which 600 budding cricketers from the length and breadth of District Doda are participating is being played at sports ground of Government PG College Bhaderwah.
On the occasion, DDC Doda, Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode was the chief guest, who inaugurated the tournament and SSP Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik was guest of honour. SP Bhaderwah Raj Singh Gouria, 2IC RR Major Ambresh, SDPO Aadil Rishu and Tehsildar Zeeshan Tahir were the special invitees. Educationist Arif Rana conducted the proceedings of inaugural ceremony.
The inaugural match of the tournament, in which 64 teams from different parts of District Doda are participating, was played between Rising Star Doda and FCC Thathri, wherein Rising Star Doda won by 3 wickets. FCC scored 148 runs in 27.1 overs, while Rising Star chased the target in 17.2 overs by losing 7 wickets. Danish who top scored with 44 runs was adjudged as the man of the match.
During the inaugural ceremony, former Ranji players including BCCI Video Analyst and JKCA Coordinator Sameer Malik, Babar Mughal and others were also present.
This is a positive boon for the youth of Chenab Valley which will help them in diverting their attention and energy towards sports and will also keep them away from the negative things prevalent in present day society,” said Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode, DDC Doda.
Prominent among those who were present during the inaugural ceremony include GDC Principal, Shoket Malik, Ved Kumar Kotwal, Abdul Hafeez Khateeb, Khakaan Malik, Tanveer Dev, Murtaza Qadri, Pritam Singh and Rana Arif.
Meanwhile, in the match played at GGM Science College Hostel ground in Jammu, Country Cricket Club defeated Khour Cricket Club by 20 runs. Batting first, Country Cricket Club scored 187 runs. Ishant top scored with 58 runs, while Vanshaj and Avinash contributed 32 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Ritik took 2 wickets from Khour Cricket Club.
In reply, Khour CC managed to score 167 runs to lose the match by 20 runs. Rahul was the top scorer with 73 runs. Ishant took 4 wickets for Country Cricket Academy, while Marutwan bagged 3 wickets and Surya claimed one.
Rahul Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Saleem-ur-Rehman officiated the match.
