*NCA Chhattisgarh wins opening tie

DODA, June 23: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Bhawani Rakwal inaugurated the prestigious All India 14th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2018 in an impressive function at Sports Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by 10 Rashtriya Rifles Unit Doda and J&K Bank.
The tournament was inaugurated in presence of SSP Doda Mohammad Sharief, ACR Doda Tariq Naik, Rtd Deputy Commissioner Gh Nabi Balwan, Second-In-Command 76 Bn CRPF K L Dhiman, Coy Commander 10 RR Major Anchal Vishwamitra, DySP Hqr Iftikhar Ahmed, Technical Officer R&B Er Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, Former Chairman MC Doda Zaffar Ullah Rather, Former Administrator Auqaf Asif Jahan Gattu, Principal GMHSS Doda Om Parkash Chandail and Dr Sajjad Hussain Kraipak.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Doda applauded the efforts of YSCC Doda for conducting such mega events in Doda since last more than 20 years and termed sports as the best medium to positively channelize the energy of youth, adding that this will provide a platform to the interested youth in the sports to showcase their talent.
Patron YSCC Doda Manzoor Ahmed Batt during the inaugural event informed that they have been organzing Gufran Tournaments since last 20 years, with an aim to promote the sports culture among the youth of Chenab region and to keep them away from the menace of drugs and other social evils.
It is pertinent to mention here that in this national cricket championship a total of 64 teams including 25 teams from others parts of the country are participating and the tournament will last for a month.
The Gufran Tournament is being played on the format of IPL with the objective to promote sports culture in the state.
The inaugural match was played between Naidu Cricket Academy (NCA) Chhattisgarh and Final Star Cricket Club Doda (FSCC).
Batting first after winning the toss, NCA Chhattisgarh scored a total of 203 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, while in reply, FSCC Doda failed to chase the target and bundled out for paltry total of 83 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin.Manish Rai of NCA Chhattisgarh was declared as the man of the match for his all-round performance.
The match was officiated by Ifroz Rather and Noushair Batt as umpires while Waseem Raja acted as the scorer.
