JAMMU, Dec 24: Jammu and Kashmir skipper Parvez Rasool again made his willow to talk to score third century of the season while debutant Qamran Iqbal contributed valuable 67 runs to help their team consolidate position in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
At stumps on day-3 today, Jammu and Kashmir were 272 for the loss of 7 wickets, with skipper Parvez Rasool on 125 and Amir Aziz on 7 at the crease.
Trailing by a big margin of 196, Jammu and Kashmir began the day with 27/0 with overnight batsmen Qamran Iqbal and Shubham Khajuria took the score to 60 runs, before Khajuria was trapped by tricky veteran medium pacer Basant Mohanty at his individual score of 11 runs off 76 balls. Soon after this Ian Dev Singh Chauhan (4) fell cheaply to make it 67/2 in 36.3 overs, however a partnership of 43 runs between Qamran and Owais Shah took the score to 110 runs before Qamran’s dismissal at his individual score of 67 runs. Then it was Parvez Rasool all the way, who sent the bowlers on a leather-hunt and hit the ball with grit and grace to help J&K reach a decent total of 272 runs with a lead of 76 runs at the end of days play. Owais Shah (28) and Irfan Pathan (15) also contributed to the team’s total.
Rasool was in murderous mood hitting 16 fours and one massive six in his knock. For Odisha, Basant Mohanty, Dhiraj Singh and Govinda Poddar claimed 2 wickets each.
