JAMMU, July 20: Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration with J&K Boxing Association organized ‘Day and Night Boxing Championship’ under the supervision of Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The objective of the championship was to educate and motivate the youth towards sports for their better development. The event was organized on the direction of Nuzhat Gul, Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council to provide equal opportunity to all the players, so that the players can excel in the different games and competitions.
In Sub-junior bout, Narayana was pitted against Kanav Sharma. Both the boxers gave their best but Narayana prevailed over his opponent, whereas in senior category, Aarif Bani defeated Ankit Saini and won the match.
An another bout was played between Naveen Sharma and Aayush Bhat, wherein Naveen won the bout with his speed, while a bout was played between Akash Sharma and Tarun Singh in which, the former’s quick punches helped to trounce the latter, whereas Rahul Kumar trounced Karan Kumar through RSC, while Rohit Manjotha beat Sachin and Vinod Bhardwaj trounced Govind Sharma.
In (67-71 kg) category, the bout was played between Shubham Mehra and Vivek Mehra wherein former won the match and in (75-80 kg), the bout was played between Sanjay and Avinash in which Sanjay emerged winner.
Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer of Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council was the chief guest of the event. He appreciated the efforts of the Divisional Sports Officer Jammu and his team for taking such initiative within a short notice and managed all the things well in time.
