JAMMU, Dec 7: Darshan Mahajan Memorial All J&K Ranking/Selection Badminton Championship, organised by Akhil Mahajan Badminton Club under the aegis of Jammu City and District Badminton Association, inaugurated by former Minister Sham Lal Sharma as chief guest at Badminton Hall Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
It is great initiative being taken by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for taking sports to every nook and corner to create an atmosphere of sports, so that the talent and youth energy is channelized in the right direction,” said the chief guest while inaugurating the tournament.
Prominent persons including Dr OD Sharma, chairman BAJK, Rajiv Sharma, Member JKSC, Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Satish Gupta, Manager, Navnnet Mahajan, president Mahajan Club, Balbir Jamwal, general secy BAJK, DV Sharma, vice chairman BAJK, Dushyant Sharma, hony treasurer BAJK.
The matches are being conducted by Rahul Sharma, chief referee, assisted by Vikram Saini, Touseef Ahmed, Divum Gupta, Sukhdev Singh, Pawanjit Singh and others.
In boys singles (U-11), Utkarsh Singh defeated Ayan, Aarav Mali beat Advik, Adharav Sharma trounced Jaskirat Singh, Devesh lost to Sagar Raina and Arslan Ahmad beat Vansh Angral, while in girls singles, Jasica lost to Sara, Akshini Manhas beat Armanjeevan, Rameet Kour beat Anamika Singh, Aira lost to Ridhi Raina and Bhavya Wazir lost to Arya Gupta.
In boys singles (U/17), Danish Kumar lost to Devesh Kashyap, Raghav Sharma beat Naman, Danish Sharma defeated Vanshit, Bhavdeep Singh beat Jasjot Singh, Anuj Sharma lost to Sarthik Sehdev, Yogesh lost to Kumar, Shivansh beat Akul and Ansh Gupta lost to Ashutosh Langar.
A large number of players, technical officials, sports lovers and guests were present during the event.
