JAMMU, Oct 27: Jat Community in association with Sangha Jat biradari, organised a mega dangal event at Village Dayalachak in the memory of their Kul devta Baba Shaheed Ji.
A total of about 15 bouts were played and the wrestlers drawn from within and outside the State participated.
Choudhary Manmohan Singh, president All India Jat Mahasabha J&K and Ex Mayor Jammu was the chief guest who along with other jat leaders Ch Sham Lal, Ch Baldev, DSP Diwan Singh, Ch.Avtar and Ch.Satpal presided over the function.
The 1st bout was won by Omkar Singh of BSF J&K who defeated Rishi Pahalwan of Jalandhar, and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 25000. Ch Manmohan Singh addressed the function and encouraged the community youth to participate in this traditional sport and shun drugs.
Dangal was organised by Ch Subhash, Retd Sub Maj.Rasaal Singh, Babu Ram Fauji, Balbir Singh, Pawan Singh, Swaran Singh, Balwinder Singh, Sr.Tara Singh and Dalbir Singh.
