JAMMU, Oct 2: A mega Dangal was organised at Malori Jagir in Dansal wherein senior BJP leader and vice president, Yudhvir Sethi was the chief guest, here today.
Sethi complimented wrestlers for keeping the traditional and most thrilling sport of yesteryears alive, hoping wrestling to regain its lost space given the enthusiasm among youngsters.
“In an era of cricket, interest for wrestling is amazing and encouraging”, Sethi said while addressing the gathering after felicitating the wrestlers achieving distinction in the breathtaking event of Dangal here this evening.
Dr Uttam Singh was the guest of honour along with wrestler Vijay Sharma, wrestler Malori Sadiq Domana and others.
The senior BJP leader called for governmental encouragement and recognition to youth evincing immense interest in the competitions like wrestling, saying it continues to remain a passion for its practitioners and fans whose number is substantial, notwithstanding the challenge being posed by other popular games.
Sethi also lauded the relentless efforts of the Dangal organizing committee comprising Vijay Sharma, Babi Kumar, Gorav Sharma, Rajeshwar Singh, Vijay Kumar, Ajeet Singh and Ranjeet Singh for making the event a success.
Prominent persons including Sarpanch Mohan Lal, BDC Chairman Rehmat Ali, Ajay Sharma, Mandal President Bajalta, Parveen Kerni Mandal President and others were present during the event.
