Concern over insanitation in Nanak Nagar, Patoli Brahmana

JAMMU, Mar 29: All J&K State 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectuals Forum president, Advocate Amrik Singh and its general secretary, Surjit Singh have expressed their grave concern over prevailing insanitation in Trikuta Nagar and Nanak Nagar Colonies i.e Ward 53, 54 and Ward 43 and 44.
In an appeal to Lt Governor, G C Murmo they urged him to issue directives to the JMC authorities and elected representatives of corporation and chairmen of Panchayats to take their responsibilities seriously at this hour of crisis and ensure proper sanitation in all localities of Jammu.
The Forum leaders said while PM is taking very effective steps to fight out this deadly virus but at the same time the other public representatives and authorities should also act fast and ensure sanitization as well as fumigation of the localities besides removing the filth and other garbage scattered at different places in these localities.
They said even some outside laborers residing in Channi Himmat area mostly from Bangladesh move from these localities freely and no measures of security have been taken to verify their identity. They move often from the lanes and by lanes of the area and under prevailing situation when there is threat of COVID -19 people feel scared as no check is on their movement.
Moreover, PDS is very poor in the area and no proper distribution of ration and other food items are being done. Besides, people especially old persons suffering from Chronic diseases lack medicare facilities and in case they need to be shifted to hospital there are no transport facilities.
Meanwhile the inhabitants of Sharda Colony, Patoli Brahmana, Barnai and other localities in Ward 65 have also expressed concern over poor sanitation in the area and alleged that no fumigation and sanitization has been done by JMC in the area since the breakout of Corona Virus. They residents alleged that despite repeated pleas the Civic Body has not taken pains. They said when administration in Kashmir has gone deep in remote villages for sanitization and fumigation, the authorities at Jammu have even neglected the Municipal areas.
