JAMMU, Dec 27: Col R N Chopra Challenge Cup Under-14 Cricket Tournament concludes at Academy ground, here today.
The final match was played between Academy Blue and Academy Green, wherein latter prevailed over former by a narrow margin of 7 runs in an exciting contest.
Academy Blue won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Academy Green scored a decent total of 175 runs in 30 overs. Arya Sachivansh Thakur scored 46 runs, while Jugjap Singh scored 30 runs. Ritvik Sharma and Yuvraj Singh also contributed 28 and 17 runs respectively. For Academy Blue, Abhay Tandon took 2 wickets, while Tushar claimed one wicket.
In reply, Academy Blue managed to score 168 runs in 29.5 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Ayush Andotra top scored with 32 runs, while Abhay Tandon contributed 20 runs. Yugan Dhar of Academy Green took 3 wickets, while Jugjap Singh claimed 1 wicket. Yugan Dhar of Academy Green was declared as man of the match, while best batsman, bowler and fielder awards went to Arya Sachivansh Thakur, Abhay Tandon and Aditya Abrol respectively. Man of the tournament award was given to Ayush Andotra. Youngest player of the tournament was awarded to 8 year old Adhijay Mehta.
The patrons of the Academy lauded the efforts of coaches Sukomal Ganguly, Deepak Dogra and Akash Manhas for handling the boys brilliantly.
