Christmas Cup: Commerce College, SCC qualify for next round

JAMMU, Jan 5: Commerce College and Sarveshwar Cricket Club (SCC) registered win and entered in the next round of ongoing 3rd Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup for College Students and J&K Cricketers at Parade Cricket Ground, here today.
SSP, PCR Jammu Ashok Sharma was the chief guest in today’s matches who was introduced with the participating teams. Sharma was accompanied by the Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of the tournament and Inspector Rajesh Anand.
Earlier, in the first match Commerce College defeated MA College XI by 41 runs.
Batting first, Commerce College scored 143 runs in stipulated 16 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Somay Jain scored 96 runs in 49 balls, Ritik made 12 runs and Subrat contributed 11 runs.
For MAM College side, Ashutosh and Rohit took 2 wickets each.
In reply, MAM College could not achieve the target and made only 102 in 16 overs for 5 wickets thus lost the match by 41 runs. Bilal scored 30 runs, KV made 21 runs.
For Commerce College side, Aditya, Ravi and Surya shared 1 wicket each.
Somay Jain of Commerce College was declared as man of the match.
In the second match, Sarveshwar XI scripted a comfortable win against Krishna Sports XI.
Batting first, Sarveshwar XI made 141 runs in 18 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Sunil was top scorer with 38 runs and Narotam made 36 runs.
For Krishna Sports XI side, Ayaz and Aditya took 2 wickets each, while as Banu and Rohit shared 1 wicket each.
In the second inning, Krishna XI could not achieve the target and made only 122 in 16 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Rohan made 41 runs and Attu contributed 26 runs.
For Sarveshwar XI, Narotam, Pardeep, Ankush, Sunny and Chander took 1 wicket each.
Narotam from Sarveshwar XI was adjudged as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Sanju, Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod and Farooq.
In tomorrow’s fixture, JKP XI will take on Guru Nanak Cricket Club and Patel Club will clash with Samar Club.
