Choudhary Cricket Club wins JHPCL T-20 tournament

JAMMU, Oct 13: Choudhary Cricket Club, Jammu won the finals of the Phase 1 Jagruk Hindustani Premier Cricket League (JHPCL) T-20 tournament which was conducting under the aegis of Headquarter 26 Arty Brigade at Sunjwan, defeating Lions Cricket Club by two wickets in a keenly played final match.
Eight teams participated in this League, which was organized with an objective to promote sports in border areas of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts in addition of better coordination and enhanced ties between population of Jammu region and Indian Army. Col Naresh Kumar, Deputy Commander Headquarter 26 Artillery Brigade was the chief guest on the valedictory function and gave away prizes to the winner and the runner-up teams.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Lions Cricket Club scored a fighting total of 191 runs by losing five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Gorav Sharma top scored with 105 runs and also took five wickets in the match. In reply, Choudhary Cricket Club managed to chase the score by losing eight wickets and won the title of the trophy. Gorav Sharma of Lions Cricket Club was declared as man of the match for his excellent performance.  Finally, the chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
It is pertinent to mention here that the winner of the final from Jammu City will precede to the Ph II of the tournament i.e super six. The winner will represent Jammu City as Jammu Janbaz in the super six which will be conducted from Oct 19 to 25 at Zorawar Stadium Sunjwan.
