JAMMU, Nov 25: Chief Justice of Hight Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Ali Mohd Magrey today inaugurated annual sports meet of the lawyers’ fraternity in presence of Justices Sindhu Sharma, Vinod Chatterji Koul, Puneet Gupta, Mohan Lal Manhas, Wasim Sadiq Nargal and Sanjay Parihar.
MK Bhardwaj, President JKHCBAJ and other office bearers of the Association including Mohinder Pal Singh Palli, Surjeet Singh Andotra, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary along with senior Advocates and young lawyers were present on the occasion.
Arvind Jasrotia Registrar University of Jammu, Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs University of Jammu, Daud Iqbal Baba Director, Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu represented the Vice Chancellor University of Jammu during the event.
Twenty four teams of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu will participate in the sports meet. The sports meet which has been a regular annual feature had to be stopped in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and has again been started after a hiatus of three years. The multi-disciplinary sports event has been organized by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu (JKHCBA).
The Chief Justice while interacting with the lawyers and office-bearers of the JKHCBA laid emphasis on physical fitness for the lawyers and in this regard such sports events play an important role. Lauding the effort of the Association for re-starting the sports meet, he said that it should be taken seriously as such events have the potential to nurture the talent in different sports and the players can ultimately play at higher levels also.
Earlier, welcoming the Chief Justice and other Judges, Bhardwaj said that personally it was a matter of great satisfaction for him that the sports meet first started during his earlier tenure as the Bar president in 1999, has again been renewed during his third and latest term in the office. Thanking the Chief Justice and fellow Judges for agreeing to attend the event, he said that their presence will act as a great encouragement to the lawyers particularly those taking part in the events.
