JAMMU, Sept 15: Samrath Singh and Shtakshi won the boy and girl category of Open Chess tournament, while Janvi Palliwanm Pratiba and Suhana Akhtar’s was adjudged with first prize in Rangoli contest, organized by J&K Rural Sports Club, here today.
As a part of environment awareness campaign for spreading the message through the medium of sports and culture activities, the event was held at Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Jeevan Nagar here.
Samrath Singh of RM Public School defeated Manant Sharma of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School in the finals.
In girl category, Shtakshi of Shiksha Niketan beat Rattan Jeet Kour in final of the same School, whereas in Rangoli competition, Janvi Palliwan group had displayed an unique creativity to protect and conserve environment in present scenario, while RM Public School’s group of Rishika, Jiya Mahajan, Pranjul and Roshami were awarded with first and 2nd award respectively, while Gandhi Nagar Shiksha Niketan School’s group comprising Molik, Varun and Manya Arya got 3rd position.
Rajeshwar Mengi, Chairman cum Principal of the host School, and Narinder Singh, president J&K Rural Sports Club gave away the valuable books and plants as prizes to the participants and winners.
