JAMMU, Dec 17: Akali Kour Singh Sports Club Jammu in cooperation with Hockey J&K is going to organize “Char Sahibzade” Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Astro Turf hockey stadium, here from December 19 to 26.
The tournament is being organized to remember the martyrdom of “Char Sahibzade—four sons of Guru Gobind Singh”.
This was informed that Avtar Singh Khalsa, member District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu and Chairman, Organizing Committee of the tournament while interacting with media persons, here today.
‘Char Sahibzade’ Hockey Tournament will be formally inaugurated on December 19 at 2 pm and Vivek Gupta, DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba range has consented to be the chief guest on the occasion”, Khalsa said, adding that two matches will be played on daily basis and final of the tournament will be held on December 26.
He informed that 16 teams of J&K State will participate in this tournament.
“We will try to organize this tournament every year, dedicated to martyrdom of Char Sahibzade and in future we will try to bring top Hockey teams of India to Jammu”, other members of the Club said, adding that they will also try to involve young generation at grass root level for the promotion of hockey and strong healthy habits among them.
Among others present were Mohinder Singh and Manmohan Singh, members DGPC, Suchwant Singh Ex-Director Agriculture, Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Harmanan Singh, Organizing Secretary of the tournament and GS Bakshi, General Secretary Hockey J&K.
