Channelizing energy into sports, physical fitness need of hour: Priya Sethi

JAMMU, July 5: Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) outplayed Tawi Sports Cricket Club (TSCC) and lifted title trophy of 3rd Jammu Tawi Summer T-20 Cup, organized by Jammu Tawi Sports Cricket Club at GGM Science College ground, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, JCC set a target of 109 runs for all out in stipulated 20 overs. Surya Mahotra was top scorer with 21 runs, whereas Sandeep Singh and Deepak Dogra made 19 and 16 runs respectively.
From TSCC side, Nitin Mehra scalped 4 wickets, whileas Manjeet Singh claimed 2 wickets. Ram Dayal, Kuldeep and Manu took 1 wicket apiece.
In the second inning, TSCC failed to chase the target and bundled out at paltry 70 runs for all out in 15.3 overs. Manjeet Singh was highest scorer with 29 runs, whereas Puneet and Aryan Dogra made 13 and 10 runs respectively.
From JCC side, Ritik Singh was the pick of the bowler with 5 wickets, whereas Rahil Singh and Vishwajeet Singh took 2 wickets each. Paras Sharma claimed one wicket.
Ritik Singh of JCC was declared as man of the match.
On the prize distribution ceremony, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi was the chief guest, who presented the winner and runner-up trophies to the teams in presence of senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi, Prof Satinder Singh, Principal, GGM Science College, Rakesh Kumar, Vice Chairman, JKCA, Parveen Kapahi, Vivek, Anil Khajuria, Sandeep Gupta, Ravinder Singh, Rakesh Chopra, members of JKCA’s working committee, Vikram Singh, Arun Dogra, Rajneet Singh, Organizing Members, Shashi Pal, Organising secretary and large number of sports lovers.
While speaking, Priya Sethi said channelizing energy into constructive sports and physical fitness is need of the hour and organisations which are promoting sports need encouragement at all levels. She added that the nation is crazy about the game of cricket and youth easily get attracted to this sport.
Later, the J&K Cricket Council members projected demands with regard to the office and hall of the council.
Minister took note of the demands and issued directions for formulating estimates for the desired works. She assured the council that required funding would be made available from the CDF for the immediate requirements.
