KATRA, June 8: The 4-week Coaching Camp organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for the school children of Katra and its surrounding areas in the seven sports disciplines of Archery, Fencing, Athletics, Shooting, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Basketball concluded at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex here today.
In all, 150 school children of 8-14 years age participated in the camp.
AK Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, who was the Chief Guest on the valedictory function, gave away medals to the winners and runners-up players of various team events as well as those who excelled in the individual events organized during the Coaching Camp.
The boys and girls who took part in the Coaching Camp were imparted skills and techniques by the highly experienced Coaches in the seven identified sports disciplines daily in the morning and evening sessions to groom them. Those who have shown more inclination and promising results will be imparted advanced coaching to enable them to participate in different sports events at higher levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sahu said that the Shrine Board has made available state-of-the-art facilities at its Sports Complex at Katra for the promotion of sports in the area, adding that the youth should take optimum benefit from these facilities and excel in various sports and games.
A demonstration of skills and techniques of the various games and sports was also given by the participants of the coaching camp on the occasion.
Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. CEO; and Ashok Kumar, Director Sports of the Shrine Board gave details of the coaching imparting during the Camp.
Among those present on the occasion were prominent citizens, sports lovers, school children, as well as officers and staff of the Shrine Board.
