LEH, Jan 6: The first batch of tourists for ‘Chadar Trek-2020’ was flagged off today morning by the Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Gyal P. Wangyal from Tourist Information Centre, Leh.
Interacting with media persons, Wangyal said, elaborate arrangements have been made to facilitate tourists coming for Chader Trek.
He said that facilities like mobile wireless handsets for communication, two rescue helipads to tackle emergency, deployment of SDRF teams along the trekking route, help from Indian Air Force in case of emergency, regulating of wastes by Wild life Department were already put in place for the Trek.
Wangyal also interacted with the trekkers and wished them safe and joyful trekking.
He inspected the ongoing registration and mandatory medical checkup for the trekkers.
On the first day today 90 trekkers left for the adventurous trek and by this afternoon about 205 trekkers have gone through mandatory medical checkup out of which more than 100 have registered themselves for the Trek.
CMO Leh, Dr. Motup Dorjey, President ALTOA, Tsetan Wangchuk and large number of tourists and trekking guides were also present on the occasion.
