JAMMU, Nov 8: Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani celebrated its Annual Day-cum-inauguration of Silver Jubilee event amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation on the theme “Deeper-Stronger-Higher”.
This historic and colourful event showcased the talents, achievements, emotions and sentiments of members of creatively oriented team of Carmel. The festivities included a plethora of exciting events making it one of the most festive and memorable period in the history of the school.
Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu graced the occasion as the chief guest while Rt. Rev. Bishop Ivan Pereira and Sr Nirmalini AC, Provincial Superior were guests of honour.
Two skits formed the core of the event. The first skit ‘A.C Establishment’ traced the roots of Apostolic Carmel Sisters and their mission in Jammu and Kashmir. Children paid rich tributes to Bishop Hippolytus who envisioned an institution of excellence for girls in Jammu. The second play titled “The Potter and the Clay” that demonstrated that all those who have entered the portals of Carmel have been beautifully shaped, designed and moulded so as to meet the challenges of life. Both these plays were lazed with beautifully choreographed dances and melodious renditions of songs.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of new school logo which is a confident visualisation of the motto–Belief Enhances Life.
Speaking about the logo, Fr Shaiju Chacko, School Manager, shared that the original ideas for the logo were sourced from the school itself. He acknowledged the contributions from the students and expressed that the logo would help the school to create a distinct identity that all the stakeholders will easily identify with and be proud of.
Bishop Ivan Pereira congratulated the management, staff and students for ushering in the silver jubilee year and appreciated the work of the school in inculcating values in the children.
Sister Nirmalini felicitated the meritorious students of Classes X (2018-19).
Sushma Chauhan felicitated the toppers of Classes X and XII. She also declared the Silver Jubilee celebrations open.
Earlier, Principal Sr. Maria Swati, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the achievements of the school. She laid out plans to make the year-long celebrations memorable for the students.
Anshika, Pratibha and Harsheen emceed the event and kept the audience engaged. Anita Rampal proposed the vote of thanks.
The spectacular event came to close with the melodious rendition of the jubilee theme written and composed by Satvir Singh and Sabindu Sharma, the Music Teachers of the school.
