JAMMU, Jan 21: Cantt Cricket Club defeated Friends Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 18 runs in the ongoing Inter-Panchayat/Block Level Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with J&K Sports Council at Parade ground, here.
The tournament is being held under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, while Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu is the Organising Secretary.
Earlier, batting first, Cantt Club scored 137 runs in the stipulated overs. Rahul top scored with 51 runs while Rohit contributed 35 runs to the total. Sunny took 3 wickets for Friends Club, while Karthik claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Friends Club managed to score 119 runs to lose the match by 18 runs. Govinda top scored with 29 runs, while Dalvir and Suresh contributed 18 and 14 runs to the total respectively. Rahul of Cantt Cricket Club was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, Vishal Cricket Club got walkover against Lagan Cricket Club, which failed to turn up.
