JAMMU, Oct 2: The Bharatiya Yog Sanasthan (BYS), Jammu celebrated 59th Yog Divas in the lush lawns of its Ashram at Gole Gujral near here, today. The programme was attended by over 600 Yoga lovers.
Programme, began with Saraswati Vandana. It was followed by Yoga and Pranayama by Yog Sadhaks.
It may be recalled that BYS, Headquartered at Rohni Delhi along with its over 4000 branches in the country and abroad celebrates October 2 every year as Yog Divas. This is among the one of its six annual functions.
Jia Lal Sharma, secretary BYS, Jammu gave an informed talk on Pranayama.
He said that Pranayama is a set of ancient yogic breathing techniques that offer numerous physical, mental and spiritual benefits. It reduces stress and anxiety, improves respiratory health, boosts immunity besides improving focus and concentration.
Satya Pal, president BYS, J& K introduced the Institution to the audience. He said that BYS conducts Yoga Classes at 120 centres in and around Jammu where Yoga is taught free of cost and lot of people join these classes regularly.
He said a large section of the society has benefited themselves through our regular classes and special camps for health and healthy life style. He highlighted the role of BYS in promoting yoga for physical and mental wellbeing of society. This goes along the vision of “fit India movement” of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi , he said.
