Brilliant Vishal makes debut count, Anshul stands tall in drawn match

JAMMU, Jan 4: Showing brilliance and radiance, J&K’s left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar made his debut count by spinning web around the rival batsmen and making them struggle, while displaying elegance and radiance, Rajasthan skipper Anshul Garhwal stood tall and cracked a power-packed century in a drawn match of U-25 CK Nayudu Trophy at GGM Science College Hostel Ground here today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 1/1, rode on a magnificent innings of unbeaten 173 runs by skipper Anshul N Garhwal and ended the day at 255/6 in 62 overs, thus the match ended in a draw. Anshul was in fabulous touch and scored the runs in just 168 balls, studded with 31 boundaries. He while hitting the ball at will and sending J&K bowlers on a leather-hunt showed stellar grit, tenacity, sublimity and solidity. RK Bhat (35) and RH Sharma (23) were the other contributors.
Rajasthan after getting advantage of a delayed start managed to salvage a draw. Only the game of 59 overs was possible on the final day today.
For J&K, Vishal Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, who made his dream come true and his debut superb by taking 4 important wickets by conceding 72 runs in his 22 overs, while medium pacer Lone Nasir Muzaffar bagged 2 wickets.
It may be recalled that Kawal Preet Singh and Kanhaiya Wadhawan had scored brilliant centuries in the first innings, while Rydham Sharma had scored an unbeaten half-century.
