Brilliant Shubham, bowlers, Samad help J&K to make hat-trick of wins

JAMMU, Nov 15: Opening batsman Shubham Khajuria played a brilliant knock of 73 runs, while Abdul Samad scored power-packed 28 to help Jammu and Kashmir register 3rd consecutive win in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir bowlers restricted Nagaland to 128/4 in the stipulated 20 overs. Srikant Mundhe top scored with 63 runs off 46 balls, studded with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Hokaito Zhimomi and Yogesh Takawale contributed 25 and 20 runs to the total respectively. From Jammu and Kashmir, skipper Parvez Rasool took 2 wickets, while Umar Nazir Mir and Abid Mushtaq claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir chased the target easily in 11.5 overs by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. Shubham Khajuria, who had scored brisk 49 runs against strong Delhi yesterday, scored superb 73 runs off 40 balls with the help of 7 boundaries and 4 sixes today, while Abdul Samad, who had scored 10-ball 29 against Odisha on the other day, contributed quick-fire 28 runs off 13 balls including 3 massive sixes and a four today. Jatin Wadhawan and Manzoor Dar chipped in with 14 and 11 runs respectively. From Nagaland, Imliwati Lemtur and Tony Chishi claimed 1 wicket each.
With today’s win, Jammu and Kashmir made hat-trick of victories in this tournament, winning the matches against Odisha, Delhi and Nagaland.
