JAMMU, Nov 19: The Library Committee of both the libraries of MIER College (Autonomous) organized a book exhibition to enrich the UG and PG Departments by adding latest and relevant books as per the revised syllabi from time to time according to latest trends bedsides inculcating reading habits among the faculty and students alike.
Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions was the chief guest, who while speaking emphasized that books are the most treasured possession of a teacher and the teacher trainees must inculcate the habit of reading expansively. “This helps them not only to gain knowledge but also information about the different aspects of education through the medium of wider range of books available on various subjects”, he added.
More than 1000 books were exhibited on the various subjects like education, special education, Research, women education, human rights etc. Some general books and books written by foreign authors were also displayed.
Books of various eminent publishing houses such as SAGE, Routledge India, and Cengage Learning were exhibited by different book vendors including R.K. Anand and Oberoi.
All the faculty members and the students took a round of the exhibition. They showed keen interest in the books displayed and purchased books as per their interest and curriculum requirements under the supervision of Chief Librarian Suneel Bhat and Eesha Sharma, Librarian PG Department.
