BILLAWAR, Dec 10: Department of Political Science, Government Degree College, Billawar, organized a Quiz on Human Rights on the occasion of the Human Rights Day wherein six teams comprising three students each, drawn from 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year participated in this quiz.
The quiz was structured in three rounds and Multiple Choice type questions, True/False type questions and Single statement questions were asked. The questions were asked from themes that included the Magna Carta of 1215, Bill of Rights of England, Declaration of rights of the Man and the Citizens (France), American Bill of Rights, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and Fundamental Rights in the Indian constitution.
In all, 18 students participated in the quiz and to encourage participation in future, all of them were given prizes. The winning teams were ranked first, second and third, respectively. They were given trophies by the principal Dr B L Gupta.
Team F comprising Sanjiv Kumar (Part III), Razia Begum (Part II) and Manisha (Part I) won the first position. Team D and Team A stood second and third in the quiz competition.
In his speech, Dr Gupta said that Human Rights are so vital that students from all streams, whether science or humanities, should be aware about them. He lauded the faculty members, Amit Kumar Sharma and Joginder Kumar, for organising the quiz and the power point presentation.
Sant Kumar Sharma, senior journalist, was chief guest on the occasion and Dr B L Gupta, Principal of the college, presided over the function. The quiz was conducted by Amit Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor, in Political Science.
