Bhumika, Riya, Chandrika selected for 2nd NZ Sport Climbing Competition for Visually Challenged

JAMMU, Apr 7: Three students of Louis Braille Memorial Residential School for sightless, Roop Nagar, Jammu namely Bhumika Chib, Riya Devi and Chandrika Jyoti were selected by Mountaineering Association of J&K for participation in the 2nd North Zone Sport Climbing Competition for Visually Challenged Children scheduled to be organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee in IMF complex, New Delhi on April 17, 2017.
The selection trials were held at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in the premises of Sprawling Buds School, Bantalab, Jammu. A total of 11 girls competed for selection in the state team.
Besides the 3 selected girls, the other climbers included Damini, Mahak,Tania, Kajal, Rishika, Netra Tickoo,Roopali Bhagat and Upasana. Ms. Nivedita Shukla in charge of the school accompanied the students.
Vice Principal of Sprawling Buds School Vidhina Mahajan was the Chief Guest on the occasion who exhorted the students to do their best in the trials. The selection was made under the overall supervision of Shawetica Khajuria, a national Judge in Sport climbing and Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K.
The other technical officials included Shashi Kant Sharma, Sonam Sidharth, Ambreen Fatima, Sumiya Kousar and Juhi Jamwal. New climbers Poonam, Vishali and Razia Tabassum also assisted the officials in the smooth conduct of the trials.
