Bhumi, Vineet emerge Chess Champions in Migrants Sports Meet

JAMMU, Sept 30: Semifinals position has been cleared in the Cricket tournament, while Bhumi Bhat and Vineet Marhata have emerged Champions in Chess in the ongoing sports meet among migrant institutions in various disciplines, being organised jointly by the Relief Commissioner Migrants Office Jammu and the Department of Youth Services and Sports at different venues here.
Earlier, in Cricket, two matches were played today at Sports Stadium Jagti.
In the first match, GHSS Camp Roopnagar thrashed GHSS Camp Jagti-2 in an easy contest by 6 wickets. Batting first, Jagti-2 bundled out for paltry 61 runs in 10 overs, while in reply, GHSS Durga Nagar chased the target easily by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets.
In another match played today, GHSS Camp Jagti-3 got the better of GHSS Camp Nagrota by 20 runs. Batting first, GHSS Camp Jagti-3 scored a good total of 85 runs in 10 overs, while in reply, GHSS Camp Nagrota scored 65 runs to lose the match 20 runs.
The teams which have qualified for the semi-finals include GHSS Durga Nagar, GHSS Camp Jagti-3, GHSS Camp Jagti-4, GHSS Camp Durga Nagar and GHSS Camp Roopnagar.
In the Chess event at GHSS Camp Roopnagar, Bhumi Bhat of GHSS Camp Purkhoo emerged as the Champion in the girls section, while Vineet Marhata of GHSS Camp Durga Nagar won the title in boys section and Aditi of GHSS Camp Bohri remained runners-up. Tehsildar Rahul Sharma, Nodal Officer of the event along with Kumar Ji honoured the Chess winners.
Meanwhile, in the Ludo competition, Ambika of GHSS Camp Jagti lifted the title, while Archana of GHSS Camp Bohri claimed the runners-up trophy. The winners were honoured with certificates by the Principal of GHSS Camp Purkhoo, Ramesh Kumar Hakeem.
