JAMMU, Mar 4: BPCL having become the Maharatna Company displayed a noble cause today, when its J&K chapter under the leadership of Rajesh Sharma played a charity cricket match with its stakeholders in Jammu.
During the closing ceremony of one month long ‘Save Oil’ programme namely ‘Saksham’, team BPCL came across a brilliant group of ‘Scouts & Guides’ students up to class 5th belonging to the family of ‘Slum dwellers’ being run by Kanchan Sharma inside a 100 sqft room in the slums near Trikuta Nagar without any support from the Govt or any NGO, purely by the dedication of few teachers.
These teachers are working for the noble cause of contributing to the people, who really need the education.
In an endeavor to help the students and teachers, team BPCL in J&K conducted a charity cricket match among its stakeholders today to contribute for the cause of “SangarshVidya Kendr School”.
Four teams comprising of Dealers from Jammu & Kashmir provinces along with contractors/vendors and BPCL Officers and staff of J&K played two semifinals in order to seal berth in the finals.
The final match was played between Kashmir Dealers and Contractors/Vendors. Winners of the match were Contractors/Vendors team and the man of the match, best bowler and best batsman were finally declared and were awarded by the Territory Manager J&K, Rajesh Sharma.
The students of Sangarsh Vidya Kendr School were invited specially to witness the match at the SIDCO complex cricket ground, Bari Brahmana.
Earlier, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga declared the match open by playing a few balls.
Appreciating the organizers, Ganga said that such noble gestures of the Maharatna Company will go a long way in the days to come.
