JAMMU, May 25: The Board of Development for Sports in India (BDSI) will organize a series of adventure sports-cum-grooming camps at Patnitop. These camps will focus on giving exposure of adventure sports to the youth of Jammu as well as have a special focus on grooming of young minds through exposure to life skills and understanding of Dogra culture and heritage.
This was disclosed by the Amit Sethi, Director of BDSI, while interacting with media persons here today.
Addressing the media persons, Sethi informed that these camps will be the first of their kind and organized for the first time in the State for the youth of the State. Each camp will be for duration of six days and five nights. The first camp will start on the eve of World Environment Day falling on June 4.
Elaborating further, Sethi stated that youth from the age of 10 years to 16 years can take part in these camps. Participation in these camps will be through registration and registrations will be done on the first come, first serve basis. Interested persons may also fill the forms on our website www.bdsiindia.com, he said.
In this camp, the campers will learn the importance of physical and mental fitness. Everyday the campers will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of activities, ecosystems and adventures. Various activities like yoga, physical training, rock climbing, trekking, horse riding, obstacle courses, commando net hurdles, crawls, archery, bamboo walking, burma bridges, rope bridges, group tasking, hopping, rings and balls, corf ball and beach volleyball will be played under the guidance of experts including Brigadier Rajan Jamwal.
“In these classes, campers will be taught life skills. Fun filled games combined with personality development activities will make their leaning experience richer, joyful and rewarding, leaving kids asking for more”, Sethi added.
Vimal Manchanda, Vice Chairman said that their organization understands the importance of culture and heritage. Our proud Dogra culture and heritage will be introduced to children through various audio visual means and special entertainment programmes like skits, drama and dances to make our future generations proud of our culture and sacrifices of our Dogra warriors, he added.
A special attention will be given to the meals of the campers. Vishal Thapar will provide expert advice in preparing a varied and healthy menu for the campers.
