INDORE, Jan 28: It will be the battle of equals as Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team with 12 points in their kitty is taking on Madhya Pradesh with 9 points in the last match of the season at Holkar Stadium, here from tomorrow.
While on the batting front, Jammu and Kashmir will heavily be relying on their premier batsman, who has got good number of runs so far in the season and their skipper, who apart from a magnificent century against formidable Baroda, has hardly many big scores at his back. Centurion Imran Haroon, Bandeep Singh, Vimarsh Kaw and Paras Sharma will probably be the other batsmen in the middle.
On the other hand, MP will rely on their seasoned campaigner and skipper Davender Bundela and batting mainstay, Naman Ojha, apart from Harpreet Singh, Rameez Khan and newcomer Srivastava. Return of Monish Mishra will make their batting more formidable.
In absence of two experienced medium fast bowlers Ishwar Pandey and Sudhindra, one expects MP preparing a spinning track at Indore to get the home advantage with right-arm leg-spinner Mihir Hirwani expected to make a debut.
On the bowling front, J&K will bank on reliable speedster Ramdayal Punia and off-spinner Parvez Rasool, while on the other hand, MP will be relying on speedster Rawat, so far highest wicket-taker for the hosts and debutant Hirwani (if picked in the party) in the bowling department.
Both the teams have pride at stake as J&K will love to end the season with a positive note, while MP will try to secure maximum points in their penultimate game to be in the hunt for the quarterfinal stage.
Both the teams are equally poised and the team which holds its nerves better in the crunch situations will be the winner.
