Basigran crushes Nambla Club, lifts Uri Premier League title

SRINAGAR, May 13: Basigran Club crushed Nambla Club and lifted Uri Premier League VII title. The tournament was organised by Kalapahar Brigade at Baramulla.
Earlier, in the first semis, Uri Star lost to Basigran, whereas Nambla Club registered win over Salamabad Star in the second semis.
On the valedictory function, Major General JS Nain, GOC, Dagger Division was the chief guest, who presented rolling trophy to winning Basigran team. He also presented cash prize of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 to the winners, runners-up and Man of the Series respectively. Gifts were also presented to the conducting and support staff.
While speaking, Major General JS Jain informed that Uri Premier League was instituted by Kalapahar Brigade in 2010 to promote local talent and strengthen the bond between local people, specially the youth.
He stated that the seventh edition of the tournament which commenced on April 4, witnessed the participation of 48 teams from Uri, Boniyar, Nambla, Bijhama, Chulan, Gingle and Rampur.
Major General reaffirmed Army’s commitment in supporting locals talent and urged the youth to make use of such opportunities to hone their technical and leadership skills and equip themselves to get selected in the State and National teams.
On the occasion, a cultural programme was performed by students of AGS, Uri and pipe band was displayed by 10 Dogra.
