Baramulla defeats Pulwama by 8-1

JAMMU, Aug 24: In an ongoing Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Tournament held at Srinagar, District Baramulla made it a one-sided contest by defeating Pulwama by 8-1 to advance in the ongoing tournament.
Hardeep remained star of the day, scoring three goals striking in the seventh, 20th and 48th minute of the match. Earlier, Pawaneet Singh opened the account for Baramulla with the very third minute of the play. Shahid (10th), Ravinder (42nd), Gurpreet Singh (59th) and Harshdeep (60th) were other scorers.
From district Pulwama, Ariz was the lone scorer, who salvaged some pride thus reducing the margin in the dying 58th minute of the game. Hardeep Singh, who struck thrice was an obvious choice for the man of the match title.
Kuldeep Handoo, International player and Dronacharya awardee was the chief guest while others who were present on the occasion were Lt Col Keerti Kumar, Gurdeep Singh Sangral and Avtar Singh Bakshi from Hockey J&K.
Hardeep Singh from Baramulla was declared as man of the match. The match was afficiated by Ranjit Singh and Karanjit Singh and Charanjit Singh was match observer. Gurjit Singh, Iqbal Singh and Ali Mohd acted as Technical members.
The tournament has been sponsored by the Indian Army under the aegis of Hockey J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
