LUCKNOW, Aug 2
Badminton Association of India (BAI) chief Dr Akhilesh Das today congratulated top Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal for making it to the women’s singles semi-final of the London Olympics.
In his message from London, where Dr Das himself was watching the match, hailed Saina’s feat and said it was a great day for Indian badminton as Saina became the first Indian ever to make it to the semi-finals at Olympics.
“It’s really a great moment for all of us and we all Indians should feel proud on Saina’s success. My best wishes are with her and I hope that she will continue her good run in the Olympics further,” states Dr Das.
Fourth ranked Saina defeated fifth seed Tina Baun 21-15, 22-20 in a thrilling quarterfinal match. She scored 10 points without breaking her service in the first game and 12 points with service in the second game.
