JAMMU, May 1: Department of Students Welfare in Jammu University organized an awareness rally, which was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, here today on the campus.
On the occasion, a street play was also staged by the students of the KC Public School, Jammu and a group song was presented by LMB Public School, Jammu. The events, organized by Dr Seema Rohmetra of JU Law School and Convener of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, were highly appreciated by one and all present on the occasion.
While flagging off the rally, Prof R D Sharma called for generating awareness among the masses for cleanliness and also sought societal support for the cause. “Outer cleanliness can be achieved only when our inner selves are clean and that can be achieved by changing our habits,” he said and stressed on having self introspection so as to achieve overall cleanliness.
The Vice Chancellor also announced best worker award for cleanliness.
The rally was divided into five groups and each group had the round of various teaching departments and their surrounding area which they were allotted to clean under the supervision of their conveners.
After taking round of the campus the faculty members, employees, scholars and students under the leadership of Prof P K Srivastava, Prof Renu Nanda, Prof Yash Pal, Dr Shabana Azmi and Dr Deepika Slathia, were divided into five groups to clean the whole University Campus.
Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies, Rectors, Directors, Officers, Teaching Faculty, Staff of JUTA, JUNTEA and JUNGEA, scholars and students also took part in the rally.
