Avinash, Akhil, others win gold

JAMMU, Oct 7: Avinash Sharma of GDC Paloura and Akhil Badkulia of GGM Science College Jammu bagged gold in 56 and 60 kg weight categories respectively of the Inter-Collegiate (Men) Judo Competition, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
The Competition was inaugurated by Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in a simple function which among others was attended by Rajkumar Bakshi, Jai Bharat, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Sanjeev Jamwal and Padam Dev Singh.
Sunil Kumar of GDC Hiranagar clinched silver in 56 kg, while Manoj Kumar and Imran Hussain of PG Department and MAM College shared bronze medal.
In 60 kg, silver went to Vicky Sharma of MAM College, while the bronze was shared by Anil Kumar of GDC Hiranagar and Abhishek of GDC Akhnoor.
In 66 kg, Piyush Thakur of GDC Kathua bagged gold and silver went to Amit Kumar of GDC Hiranagar, while in 73 kg, Subhash Singh of GDC Kathua claimed gold, Shamsher Singh of MAM College bagged silver and the bronze was shared by Avi Sharma of GDC Hiranagar and Vishal Sharma of GDC Akhnoor.
Umar Jaan of Govt Medical College Jammu claimed gold in 81 kg, while Jaggar Husain of GDC Hiranagar bagged silver in this category and the bronze was shared by Abhishaek Gupta of GDC Kathua and Sandeep of MAM College.
In 90 kg, Ranjodh Singh of MAM College and Aman Sharma of GGM Science College clinched gold and silver respectively, while the bronze was bagged by Vishal Singh of GDC Kathua.
Sheran Mirza of PG Department bagged gold in below 100 kg, while the silver was bagged by Darshan Singh of GDC Kathua and Tanvir Singh of GDC Kathua and Puneet Ghai of GGM Science College shared bronze.
In open category, Ranjodh of MAM College and Umar Jaan of GMC, Jammu clinched gold and silver respectively, while Arjun of GDC Hiranagar and Sheraz Mirza of PG Department shared bronze.
The Championship was officiated by Vikas, Virender Sharma, Raman Sharma and Jugal Kishore.
