JAMMU, Nov 8: Sailing on a murderous knock of 130 runs off just 62 balls, studded with 16 boundaries and 6 sixes from Atul Sharma, Simula XI thrashed Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) by a huge margin of 84 runs in the ongoing Eid-Diwali Milan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department in collaboration with Simula Software at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Simula XI scored a huge total of 225 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing just 2 wickets in the process. Atul was in sublime touch and sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt in his power-packed unbeaten knock of 130 runs, striking the ball with fluidity and grace, while Shashi also played a swashbuckling innings of 73 runs in 47 balls with the help of 12 fours and 1 six. For YSCC, Akash and Sahil shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, YSCC failed to chase the target and managed 141 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Nipun was the top scorer with 27 runs in 28 balls with 2 fours, while Akash and Rohit scored 25 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
For Simula XI, Shashi and Sameer shared 2 wickets each, while Prithpal, Vikram, Rocky and Varun claimed 1 wicket each. Atul of Simula XI was declared man of the match for his splendid century.
Earlier, in the first match, HPCC XI drubbed FCC by 3 runs in a thrilling contest. Batting first, HPCC XI scored 144 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Sajad was the top scorer with 28 runs in 37 balls including 2 boundaries, while Habib hit well made 25 runs in 21 balls with the help of 3 fourS. Saqib also contributed 16 runs in 8 balls with 2 fours to the total. For FCC XI, left-arm spinner Sahil Gill was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 6 important wickets, while Ambrose and Nitesh shared one wicket each.
In reply, FCC could not chase the target and managed to score 141 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, thus lost the match by 3 runs. Taffy was the top scorer with 38 runs in 36 balls including 7 fours, other two batsmen Vinod and Tiny contributed 28 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For HPCC XI , Sahil scalped 3 wickets, while Nadeem and Habib shared 1 wicket each. Sahil Gill of Friends Cricket Club was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance.
The today’ s matches were officiated by Suhail, Sadiq , Ashwani and Puneet as umpires, while Sanjay Bhatti and Yogesh acted as scorers.
