Asian Football Week for ‘Special Athletes’ concludes

JAMMU, July 27: Asian Football Week for ‘Special Athletes’ concluded in Gymnasium Hall of Jammu University, here today.
It was delight for all to witness the over flowing smiles on the faces of Special Athletes, their parents, caretakers, guardians and the teachers of the Special Schools participating in this sports event of Special Olympics Bharat.
M K Sinha, IGP Jammu and Tajinder Singh, SSP Jammu conveyed best wishes to all the organizers and coaches for making this unique week-long event a success.
MLC Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest on the occasion, who termed this programme an eye opener for all sections of the society.
Sohail Kazmi was the guest of honour, who took pledge to give wide publicity to this mission being a man from media.
Apart from SSP Mohd Sharief Chouhan and Dr Bharat Bhushan, Director Social Welfare Jammu, prominent among other dignitaries who graced the closing ceremony were I D Soni, State Commissioner Scouts & Guides; Bhanu Pratap Singh, Asian Football Player; S Satpal Singh, AFC-A Licence Coach and Romesh Chander, Vice President J&K Football Association .
The Executive Members of Sahyog India present were Esther William, Pooja Malhotra, Dr D R Kapoor, GR Bhagat, Thakur Kashmir Singh and Satish Sahni.
During the Asian Football Week , the sports events of football were organised in the districts of Jammu, Samba and Kathua where reputed schools participated and hosted these events under Unified Sports. All the Special Athletes were honoured with gold medals and their parents and schools management were honoured by presenting souvenir /awards for taking initiatives to understand Special Olympics Bharat for exploring the hidden talent of Special Athletes.
The Special Schools which participated included Sahyog India, Asha School, Jammu Sanskriti School, MV International School, Shri Ram Universal School, Alexander Memorial School, Lawrence Public School, Dr Ambedkar School, Mother India Sr Sec School, Model Institute of Education & Research, Jammu University, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education Jammu University.
Ashwani Jojra, State President Special Olympics Bharat J&K presented welcome & Keynote address, while vote of thanks was presented by Karunesh Gupta.
