100-member J&K contingent participating in KIYG

JAMMU, May 6: A contingent of 100 participants comprising coaches and officials are part of Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) underway in Bihar.
A ten day long Khelo India Youth Games, virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4, will come to an end on May 15. As per officials, 100 participants including, 24 coaches and officials will be attending the Games in different disciplines.
“As many as 24 officials and coaches along with 76 players including 49 boys and 27 girls are part of the contingent,” they said. They further added, the Jammu and Kashmir contingent will compete in the disciplines of Cycling, Fencing, Gatka, Gymnastics, Judo, Kalariyapattu, Mallkhamb, Thang- Ta, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir, Javid-ur-Rehman and Jugal Kishore, Senior Judo Coach, are appointed as Chef-de-Mission and Nodal Officer respectively for the contingent. As per reports reaching here, the J&K Volleyball team has qualified for the semifinals round by beating Bihar in the Khelo India Youth Games.
