Army’s Bandipora Cricket League gets underway

BANDIPORA, Oct 17: Rashtirya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Watlab Sector inaugurated Bandipora Cricket League 2018 (T-20) at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by the Commanding Officer in an impressive function.
The first match of the tournament was played today on knockout basis. A total of 16 teams from both the districts of Bandipora and Baramulla (divided into two pools viz Pool ‘A’ and Pool ‘B’) will be participating and the matches will be played over eight days starting from October today to October 24, 2018.
The aim of conducting Bandipora Cricket League 2018 (T20) is to channelise the Kashmiri youth towards sports activities and encourage them to join mainstream. The tournament will not only provide the youth a platform to showcase their talent but will also motivate them to take up sports as a hobby.
The event has generated a lot of enthusiasm amongst the locals, especially the participants and spectators.
It will also offer an ideal platform to handpick the local talent and engage the youth of the region, positively for a brighter future.
During the event, the chief guest motivated the local youth to pursue the path of development and peace through sports, good health and appreciated their sportsman spirit.
The local populace applauded the efforts of Army and came in huge numbers to support and witness the event.
