Army organizes T20 Cricket Tourney

JAMMU, Nov 23: In yet another initiative towards carrying out constructive activities for the people, a galaxy of events were organized under the aegis of Chinar Corps at Shar-e-Shali, today.
50 Rashtriya Rifles (KUMAON) organized a Inter Village T-20 Cricket Championship, Medical Camp at Share and 42 Rashtriya Rifles (ASSAM) organized a Food Beverage, Steward and Fashion Designing Course at Tral, Awantipura.
Enthusiastic youth, divided in 16 teams of local villages participated in the T-20 tournament.  The participating teams included Royal Fifty, Police Eleven, Dus, Nagbal(Lodu), Chandhara-I, Chandhara-II, Satha Pokhirin, Barus, Kranzgam, Wuyan-II, Shar-II, Wahab Karan, Mandikpal, Khreuh, Wuyan-I, and Gundbal.
The final match was played between teams of Royal Fifty and Police Eleven. Competing amongst 16 vibrant and talented local cricket teams, the team of Police Eleven, Awantipura emerged as the champions of the T-20 tournament.  On their spree to the flawless victory they defeated team Mandikpal by 1 wicket in the league matches and team Barus by 136 runs in the quarterfinals and team Chandhara-II by 3 wickets in the semi-final to reach the final, where they faced team Royal Fifty, Shar In the final match. Royal Fifty Shar scored 93 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 10 wickets.  Chasing the target, team Police Eleven, Awantipura made 94 runs for 6 wickets.
For his superb performance Irshad Ahmed was declared as man of the match. He scored a total of 21 runs in the final match.  The best bowler award was presented to Jahangeer Ahmed for taking 18 wickets in the tournaments.
The youth appreciated the opportunity provided to them and thanked the Army for organising the event.
