KARGIL, Nov 16: The Army’s 8 mountain division in conjunction with civil administration conducted shahidi cricket cup T-20 tournament at Biamathang in Kargil.
The tournament is organised every year in the memory of brave soldiers of Indian Army and Kargil ‘Awam’ who laid down their lives during the Indo- Pak wars of 1947-48, 1965, 1971 and Kargil conflict of 1999.
The aim of conducting the tournament is to inculcate sportsmanship, camaraderie and team spirit amongst the youth of this region besides further developing faith and mutual respect between Army the local populace living in the region.
Haji Hanifa Mohammad Jan, Chief Executive Counsellor, Kargil felicitated the winners Sheena Kings Eleven and runners up Ess Sports Club. Various Army and civil dignitaries of Kargil district witnessed the exciting final match.
A total of 16 teams of various sports clubs and schools of Kargil district participated in this tournament.
