SHOPIAN, Dec 29: The Army as an endeavour to help the local population under Sadhbhavna distributed blankets and essential items to poor and destitute children at the Bal Ashram in village Pinzur, Shopian district.
Keeping in preview the approaching winters, the essential items included kitchen set , steel utensils and blankets for the orphans. The children were happy and overwhelmed by the gesture of the local Rashtriya Rifles Battallion.
While distributing the items Brig Pramod, Commander Sector Headquarters who was also present on the occasion stated that these children were the future of the country. There is budding doctor, engineer and sportsman in every single child here and all they needed was proper education, care and love from the society. While citing the example of the Prime Minister of the country he said that each of these children has the potiential to rise in life and make the country proud in future.
Abdul Gani, the care taker of the orphanage said that the efforts taken by the Army will go a long way in providing warmth in the hearts of the poor children in his ashram. He also requested the locals to help out the children in whatever manner they could by supporting the orphans.
He was appreciative of the Army with their gesture especially towards these children who had no one to support them.
