RAJOURI, July 31: Indian Army organised an Inter-School Athletic Meet at Kotranka, here.
According to the organisers the objective of the Meet was to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the students of Rajouri District, provide impetus to the Army’s efforts to promote positive development amongst the students through sports and also provide a competitive platform to help them showcase their talent.
A total of 300 students drawn from 13 schools of Kotranka, Samote and Budhal participated in the Meet.
Track events like 9 km Cross Country, 100 Mtr race, 200 Mtr race, 400 Mtr Relay and field events like Javelin Throw, Shot Put, High Jump and Long Jump were conducted during the Meet.
The event brought to fore the raw talent available among the students in the region especially from the remote areas.
Winners in all categories were felicitated on the occasion.
The villagers expressed gratitude towards the Army in its endeavors to motivate the youth of the region and usher-in bonhomie.
