Army conducts Inter District Football League matches

Jammu, Nov 4: “Pir Panjal Football League” kicked off on November 2 amidst lot of enthusiasm and fanfare. The Inter District Football League is being conducted by the Army to promote sports and inculcate a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst youth of the area.
Seven teams from six districts to include Poonch Panthers, Rajouri Royals, Reasi Rustam, Naushera Knight Riders, Doda Dare Devils, Kishtwar Strikers and Ramban Warriors are participating in the League. On the first day, Kishtwar Strikers beat Rajouri Royals in a penalty shootout with score of 4-2 and Naushera Knight Riders beat Reasi Rustam with a comfortable margin of 3-0.  Four matches were very keenly contested on November 3, 2016 in which Doda Dare Devils beat Ramban Warriors in a penalty shootout. In other matches, Poonch Panthers beat Naushera Knight Riders by a margin of 3-1 and Kishtwar Strikers beat Doda Dare Devils by 5-0.  In the last match of the day, Rajouri Royals beat Ramban Warriors with a score of 6-0.  The tournament has caught the attention and excitement of the locals as was evident by the large number of spectators who turned out to witness the event. The enthusiasm to participate and watch the popular sports is a display of the indomitable spirit of the people of the area.
