JAMMU, Dec 28: Army Public School Rukh Mutti blanked SOS Gole Gujral by four goals to nil (4-0) in Jammu District Women Hockey Tournament, which got underway at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being organized by Hockey J&K in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, under the auspices of Hockey India.
Earlier, APS Rukh Mutti thrashed SOS Gujral in one-sided affair by (4-0) goals. Priya Rajput scored the first goal in the 10th minute of the match to give her side an early lead. Then Archana Chaudhary struck twice and pelted splendid goals in 13th and 15th minute of the match to end the first half with (3-0) lead. A superb goal by Ruby Manhas in the 40th minute gave APS an unbeatable lead and finally the team won the match with the same margin. Players of SOS Gole Gujral despite making attempts failed to score any goal in stipulated time.
Meanwhile, in the first match, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade held Army Public School (APS) Miran Sahib to (1-1) draw in a tough contest. For GCW Parade, Dechin was the goal scorer in 36th minute of the match, while Simran pelted a superb goal for APS Miran Sahib in 45th minute of the match.
The matches were officiated by JS Reen, Amarjeet Singh and Jagjit Singh.
Rumal Singh, general secretary Hockey J&K was the chief guest in the first match, while Jagjit Kaur, member Hockey J&K was the chief guest in the second match.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were GS Bakshi, Desh Bandhu, MS Reen and Dalbir Mehta.
In tomorrow’s fixture, APS Miran Sahib will take on Coaching Centre in the first match, while APS Rukh Mutti will face SAI XI in the second match.
