JAMMU, Apr 4: The annual sports meet of MIER College of Education was organized at its campus.
The meet was inaugurated by Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER Group of Institutions. Students took part in events like Tug-of-War, Badminton, Volleyball and Kho Kho. All the students and staff members witnessed the sports meet and cheered the participants.
Tug of war (Girls and Boys mixed) was held between the teams from BEd and MEd Departments. Team A of BEd was the winner and Team B of MEd secured the second position. The Boys Single Badminton matches were held between teams of BEd General and BEd Special Education. Deepak Salgotra of BEd General was the winner and Mohinder Kumar of BEd Special was the runner up.
In Girls Doubles Badminton matches, Team E comprising Nisha Devi and Pallavi Viz of BEd bagged the first place and Team C comprising Preeti Sharma and Usha Kumari of BEd were the runner ups.
In Volleyball matches, Team A overpowered Team B to claim the title. Girls matches for Kho Kho were held between the three different departments of the college and Team A of BEd was the winner and Team C of MEd bagged the second place.
Dr Adit Gupta addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to whole heartedly take part in such events. He said that proficiency in co-curricular activities including sports is an integral part of becoming an effective teacher and that will develop a whole some personality in the pupil teachers.
The entire event was organized by Rajendra Praveen, Incharge Games and Sports Unit, MIER College of Education and Usha Chunni, Sports Officer MIER along with the PTIs Dinesh Sharma and Priya of Model Academy.
Overall, it was quite an active, enthusiastic and thrilling participation and proved to be a great stimulant for one and all.
