JAMMU, June 12: Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized its Annual Campus Sports Day-cum-Prize Distribution Function here at University Sports Stadium.
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh was the chief guest and inaugurated the function by releasing the balloons in presence of Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, who presided over the function.
While speaking, DyCM said that world class cricket stadium will be constructed in Jammu. He further added that IIT had already been sanctioned at Nagrota by the Central Government and also stressed upon the construction of lake on Tawi site.
Dr Singh presented prizes to the winner and runner-up teams of PG Departments in different games which were conducted during the year.
Track Suits were awarded to the players of PG Department who represented the University in the various Inter-University Tournaments and Competitions during the session 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Some of the interesting Athletic events were also conducted on this occasion which included Tug of War, etc.
The gathering was enthralled with Dogri, Kashmiri Folk Dance and Punjabi Bhangra presented by the students of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, presided over the function and while speaking hoped that the prize winner students will bring laurels to the institution by winning awards and medals in the forthcoming Inter-University Zonal and national sports events.
Earlier, Prof Dhian S Bhau, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee’s, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu delivered the welcome address.
In the end, Gagan Kumar, PTI Campus presented the vote of thanks.
The proceedings were conducted by Deepmala Kotwal and Sangeeta Bhat.
The event was managed by Dr Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma, Volleyball Coach, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Cricket Coach, Ravish Vaid, Table-Tennis Coach, Vikas Karlopia, PD Singh and Jai Bharat.
