JAMMU, Jan 25: Riding on 5-wicket haul by young Ananya Sharma, J&K thrashed Meghalaya by seven wickets in the Under-23 women’s One-Dayer at Ravenshaw University Ground-2, Cuttack in Odisha.
As per the reports reaching here, Meghalaya won the toss and elected to bat first and could score only 85 runs. Ananya of J&K, who is just 14 years, wreaked havoc and bagged five important wickets by conceding just 34 runs.
Ananya did not allow any batswomen to settle down and the whole side of Meghalaya was bundled out for a paltry total of just 85 runs. Sadia Wani, Heena Kouser, Rifat Choudhary and Nadia Chowdhary shared apiece each.
In reply J&K achieved the target of 86 runs in 31.5 overs losing three wickets. Tanisha Sharma scored 29 runs off 74 balls, while Rudrakshi Chib scored 22 off 85 balls.
Nadia Chowdhary and Bismah Hassan remained unbeaten at 10 and 9 runs respectively.
Ananya was presented a match ball by the officials for this achievement.
