Yoga competition

JAMMU, Feb 13: Amit, Pooja, Raqib emerged winners of Yoga competition, organized by Vichar Kranti Manch International in collaboration with Indian Yoga Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Channi Himmat, here today.
Former Legislator and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest of the event and said that practicing Yoga can help keep the body fit and mind serene. He said the ancient science of Yoga is India’s great gift to the world.
The students from ASN Higher Secondary School, Naveen Shiksha Kendra Public High School, Modern Public High School and Himmat Learning Field Higher Secondary School participated in the competition and exhibited their talent by performing various postures of Yoga.
ID Soni, former State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides and president Old Age Home Amphalla presided over the function and Rattan Lal Gupta former president Ware House Nehru Market Traders Federation and Advisor VKMI were the guests of honour.
The welcome address was delivered by Chander Mohan Sharma, general secretary VKMI, while Dr SK Jain president VKMI introduced guests and the executive body and office bearers of the Manch.
A committee of a jury of judges was constituted including Anil Gupta (Swaraj) Director Swaraj Yoga Institute and Wellness Retreat, Bansi Lal Joint Director National Sports and Yoga Asana Federation and Arun Pachnanda, State vice president Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan.
KS Samyal Advisor VKMI, Anju Bansal former president Bharat Vikas Parisad, Anil Swraj and Jain recited Yoga Bhajans, whereas Ashok Gupta vice president VKMI and chief managing trustee Sarv Uthan Trust practiced laughing Yoga.
The event was arranged by Abhinandan Jain, financial advisor of the Manch.
In the competition, Amit of NSK High School, Pooja of NSK High School and Raqib of ASN Higher Secondary School secured first, second and third prizes, respectively. Prof. Sarla Kohli, former Principal GGM Science College Jammu presented vote of thanks.
