KATHUA, Feb 8: A young skier from the Indian Army, Aman Kumar, hailing from Kathua district, is representing India at the ongoing 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China. The Indian team, including Aman, has already arrived at the venue to compete in this prestigious event.
Aman, 22, has a remarkable list of achievements in skiing and has been part of the Indian team due to his outstanding performance. A resident of Nagri Parole in Kathua, Aman developed a passion for Cross Country Skiing during his posting in Kashmir, where he got training on snow. “Most of my training took place in Gulmarg, where I practice long-distance events like 10 km, 15 km, and sprints,” said Aman.
He will compete in the 4x 7.5 kilometers Relay event at the Asian Winter Games. Aman’s inclusion in the national team came after his impressive performance at the 3rd Khelo India Winter Games held in Gulmarg in 2024, followed by participation in an international camp in Italy.
