DODA, Sept 27: Three day long Aman Memorial Football Tournament, being organized by the people of village Siraj in the memory of martyred DySP Aman Thakur, commenced here today at sports stadium.
The tournament, being organized on the birthday of martyred DySP Aman Thakur, was inaugurated by SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmed in presence of senior police officers and many others. Floral tributes were paid to the martyr before commencing of today’s matches.
The village Siraj in District Doda is the birth place of martyred Aman Thakur, who attained martyrdom in encounter with militants in District Kulgam on February 24, 2019.
The tournament will be played in two age categories—U-11 and U-14 boys and girls. A total of 17 teams are taking part in the tournament.
In the inaugural tie of the tournament, Green Model School defeated Shaheen Public School by 4-1 goals, whereas in the second match, Laksh Club defeated Alpha by 3-1 goals. In the third match in girls section, Parmount defeated Bhartiya Vidya Mandir by solitary goal.
